                                                        Trails in the Bitterroot

            Picture
Welcome to the The Como Trails. These trails and website are a work in progress. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. The trails are only 20 minutes south of Hamilton, pet friendly and free of charge. Come ski or snowshoe over 30 miles of scenic groomed roads in the winter and hike or mountain bike various trails in the summer.

About the Como Trails Club Inc.

Como Trails Club Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of recreational use of the Lake Como/Little Rock Creek area including, hiking, mountain biking and Nordic skiing. In cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, the Club maintains the Como Trails area. This area is 3 miles west of Darby, Montana, between Lake Como Recreational Area and Tin Cup Canyon. Between Dec. 1 thru March 31, the 30+ miles of Como Trails are groomed for skate and classic skiing. Grooming occurs weekly or more depending on snow conditions. Maps will be provided at the trailhead and local businesses.  Use of the trails is free and dog friendly.

The Club will strive to promote recreational events. In the winter, the Club will sponsor Nordic skiing events such as clinics, demos and races . Summer events include mountain biking and off road triathlons.

The Club will hold meetings at the beginning of each ski season, in the spring at the end of the ski season, and beginning of summer events. Any public meetings will be posted in the papers, related websites, e-mailed, phone called, etc.

Grooming reports will be posted at missoulanordic.org on the snow-grooming pages.

To keep up with the rest of the world, Como Trails Club is also on Facebook. Photos and updates are often posted here. Check it out!

If you would like to join the club please click on the "Members/Donate" tab at the top of this webpage. We only have a paper/mail-in form as of the moment. Stick with us as we arrange for on-line registration. If you have any questions about  the Club's activities, or trails, please contact Tony Neaves at 1-406-381-3943.

            Updates

            • Feb. 17, 2011: Good snow up at Como for the last month. No new snow, but grooming is still occurring weekly, and the upper trails are fantastic. Check out the Ravalli Republic article: http://ravallirepublic.com/lifestyles/recreation/article_c997e8a6-5919-11e1-9df4-0019bb2963f4.html
            • Nov. 17, 2011: There is snow at Como Trails! We are having a trail maintenance day to prep some of the newer single track trails and we would love your help. The more bodies the better. Come for an hour or come for the day. See the Winter Events Page for more information.
            • Oct. 25, 2011: We had a great turn out for Pint Night at the Brewery here in Hamilton. Over $800 was raised between the raffle, memberships, hat sales and donations. It was great to see so many faces and see our community growing. Thanks to everyone who came out!
The weather is turning. Hears hoping we can ski and snowshoe in              December. Hats are still available for $18 and will be until they run out          (see picture to the right). Stop in Valley Bike and Ski in Hamilton or          e-mail the club at comotrailsclub@gmail.com.
            • Oct. 1, 2011: Just a heads up for the Como Trails Club pint night at Bitterroot Brewing in Hamilton, MT.  $.50 from every beer sold will be donated to Como Trails Club.  The event will also host a raffle and have fleece Como Trails Club hats for purchase in support of the club. Enjoy a beer and support some local outdoor recreation!

            • June, 2011: We are looking for letters of support to apply to a Recreational Trails program (RTP) grant for 2012. Your support is critical. To the right is a letter from the president. You can also download this letter (copy below "Updates"
            • March 29, 2011: The season has come to a close and Como is done grooming for the year. The skiing is still good behind the gates if you want to hike up (or maybe take your mountain bike up with your skiis strapped on – that’s my plan!). To reflect on this past season and look forward to next year there will be an end of the year party this Sunday April 3rd from 4-7pm at Kiwanis Park in Hamilton (off of South 9th Street).  We hope to see you there to celebrate the amazing season we had and meet other club members that you never crossed paths with on the trails. There will be some appetizers and beverages. Bring your own grill-able item or other goodies you might want to snack on or share. See you there!
